About the book

"In the beginning, before the gears of Time were forged and the blanket of Space was woven, there was simply the All (1). A divine sphere of infinite possibility, whose center is everywhere and circumference is nowhere. Whole and harmonious, the All is a bottomless well of pure potential, waiting to take form. The All is the source of all things, the beginning of all things, and the ultimate end of all things, as the world is unmade over, and over again.

The harmony within the womb of the All inspired a point of energy to form; a young maiden gestated her individuality in the form of pure light. She awakened within the timeless sphere of the All, and she saw no contrast; no contour; no shade of difference between  herself and the pure light of infinite harmony all around her. A question formed in the young maiden’s mind: “what lies outside the All?” (2) 

In forming the question, she summoned a window in the All, and she peered through it. Across the unborn Cosmos, she saw a dark, brooding Void. She felt drawn by the contrasting potential of his shadows and empty space. She loved him and named him Shiva.

Upon being perceived by the young maiden, the Void perceived himself (3). He was summoned into existence, out of his long meditation, into consciousness. The Void became aware of the young maiden’s single point of light, of the beautiful contrast of her spark against the nothingness around her. He loved her, and he named her Sophia. 

So the young maiden set out from the All, rocketing herself as a point of light towards the darkness of the Void. He watched, enamored, and his black hole yawned wide in anticipation.

They met at the center of the Universe, and the impact of their first meeting sparked an explosion which propelled particles of matter, antimatter, and light across the newly born Cosmos (0). The two lovers were cast far apart from one another.

Alone once more, Shiva and Sophia each made their own plans. Shiva, inspired by passion for his love, forged the gears of Time and set the orbits of the stars in motion (4). Sophia, overwhelmed with possibilities, pondered the future as she expanded herself to create Space (5).

When their work was complete, the lovers joined together once again in the center of the Universe to wander the forest of their newborn Cosmos in wonder. They made love in the early springtime, beneath the shade of a nebula and the light from a pool of young stars. (6)

After Sophia conceived, they separated again each to their own preparations. Sophia engineered the patterns and building blocks of the material world, mapping out its fractal geometry and cycles of ebb and flow (7) . Meanwhile, Shiva laid out the foundations for art and magic to adorn the cradle his lover was building, and to bring wisdom and beauty to their new offspring  (8).

The lovers met once more at the center of their organized, beautiful cosmos, and together they dreamed of all the possibilities for what their creation would become. As they talked deep into the night, they cast a net of wisdom and power around their Child’s cradle. (9) Now the lovers were inseparable, and they kept watch for the birth of their child together.

At last, in the dead of winter, Sophia gave birth to Creation with Shiva as midwife, and the gears of Time’s clock groaned out the end of their first rotation. (10)

Conceived in love beneath the light, Creation was born into darkness within the cycles of Time and the blanket of Space. To claim its divine birthright, the Child must carve out its own straight and narrow path back home."
